On your watch !

 The one-sentence which people in powerful placed use often is " this bad thing cannot happen on my Watch, it may have happened on your watch ! "

background of this post is the flooding of drought-hit villages of Gulbarga/ Kalaburagi district.

kudos to The Hindu paper, facts can be summarized as below,

Reports reaching the district headquarters late in the evening indicated continued destruction of standing crops and inundation of thousands of houses in over 157 villages. The administration estimated around 10,000 houses were flooded till Sunday evening. It said 20,024 people from 57 drought-prone villages were shifted to safer places. While 140 relief centers were operating by Sunday evening, no loss of human life is reported.

Well, how I wish we had more details pages and pages of info to elaborate on the numbers posted above.

  1. 140 relief centers { google map location, point of contact, WhatsApp live images }
  2. 20,000 houses flooded { names and DBT transfer status to these homes, auto-approval of homes under PMAY }
  3. 57 Villages { names of villages where flooding took place }
  4. 20,024 { Free travel in NEKRTC buses for next 6 month, until they get their livelihood back, Free LPG from Central Govt }

Good governance is so important, new DC should upload photos/videos on social media to get attention and then reach out to netizens/citizens to help re-build livelihoods.

Diversity and Inclusion council at Work!

Fresh off the memory, i rarely write something so afresh, this post is of the events occurred in less than 18 hours..

here i go !!

Cultures and civilizations are centered around Food, Food is centered around source of Water !
why do i say this ?
D cafe is our Food area, event based food catering do not email alerts, folks who are part of the event only get those alerts, but then you have Human communication, 1 person gets to know there is food in cafeteria, it spreads like wild fire, especially when it is 7 pm, just perfect for late workers who cannot afford time to spend to Dinner..

I was one of those, we went to grab some bites and i see what, folks who inspire me are sitting in board room, yes same board room which was spa room for chair massages on other blog, with open doors, getting ready to seat and start a well organized event named 'Diversity and Inclusion'..

My eyes lit up, i said, lets do this, i had not enrolled, i saw empty chair, hopped on to it, as i had RSVPed attitude, then realized i was not in minority, many other folks rolled their chairs and into board room and Door closed !

Journey begins, format of the 90 mins sessions is listed, classic corporate style, corporate style brings in lots of good time managements with it!
TED talk was the 1st on agenda to set the ball rolling, TED talk once it starts, in todays world it is natural to get good attention to the video and listen in to the message on it.
I like this idea, best ice breaker is the TED talk.. yes yes, this works all the time.. i am going to use it very often now to set the stage!

Event management, classic team creation, folks start self-assigning numbers in room on 40 folks, 1. 2. 3,, 1. 2. 3.. at the end, all 1s are one group, 2s are second group and so on, so forth !

Pen, paper , stationary is all taken care of, 3 leaders are also identified, man, this is next level planning.. all participants are given a sheet to list 5 things / places they identify themselves with..

Our team had 6 folks, i will name then as D1.. D6

@D1 - Swimmer / country side girl
@D2 - immigrant / desi - pak
@D3 - immigrant / desi  1/2 Indian, 1/2 Pak
@D4 - immigrant / desi - Indian
@D5 - immigrant / hispanic
@D6 - Big family women / animal rights
@D7 - california girl

this room with 40 folks came with open mind to discuss their different cultural backgrounds, to learn and share their stories.

It is good to know person from within, you can connect better, understand temperaments, understand priorities, values etc, this is so helpful in team building activities.
a forum like this just expedites knowing each other, organic relationship building will take its own time, but event based, long drives, trip based, situation based will be very easy!

Celebrating the dual / triple origin stories, be a sponge absorbing diff cultures, not many folks on earth are lucky to have been exposed to diff food , diff ppl, religions, regions, etc..
so yes, embrace the duality, plurality of YOU!

Wellness Week at work!

It is wellness week at work, glad that our management decided to host 1 week out of 52 weeks dedicated to Wellness events.

Events namely,
1. Chair Yoga
2. Fresh Juice tasting
3. Chair massages.

@Chair Yoga - turned out be super fun 30 mins, after this session, i look at the chair as yoga mat, well just because i used the work yoga mat do not include me in your imaginations as Yoga practitioner, i am far from it.

The lesson was taught via recorded video on our colleague Demoing the same on large screen, we could connect easily with the steps ! hurray !

@Fresh Juice, turned out be busy corridor traffic as soon as message was received via email that Juice are here in Cafteria ! D-cafe! all the red ones were gone, red meaning - beet roots, folks are educated now not pick non sugary drinks, we were left with lemon, ginger, orange, mint , not bad juice, we picked 2 mini 8 oz bottles and headed back to our desks !
Then starting sugar count discussions, guess what, some rules i guess, local made food need not be printed with nutrition details, so even better guilt free gulping on 16 oz flavorful juices !

@Chair Massages, very organized to begin with, online portal to book slots on the day of massage, automated emails with Masseuse information, we stood outside our board room, which was now converted to a jazzy spa, well these days all portable items make it easy to convert any place to any place :)
Massage session started, no questions asked, guess i got the Leader masseur who took control of things and started with my back, i kept the cool and continued the bear the pain as my muscles started talking.. after few mins, masseur discussed about lack of stretching to be the reason, he wished me good and suggested more sessions, on my way out i picked some mint, the Polo the Mint with the hole types.. last year i had missed this session, super occupied with work, this year will have no regrets to have attended it ! hurray!

101 Human Resources World

It is OK to reach out to people on Linked In without any reason..
Few introductory messages with no reason can be as below,


  1. look for connections related to my area of work. 
  2. I'm responsible for both Functional implementation and technical solutions related to MY CURRENT ROLE Management. 
  3. By following people related to my area, I can also see those areas in which they follow or like. 
  4. It keeps me in the know. 
  5. Hopefully, in the future, we'll have a shared interest and work together.
  6. Peer to peer networking and collaboration.

After getting Offer, Now you have more of a reason to reach out to Employees who have tagged themselves with the Employer who has offered you new Job.
Talk to them in detail - ask as much questions you look, no scoping / de scoping, sometimes you get all your answers sometimes you dont !

If you know anyone in your FriendZone or exColleagueZone refer them via Recruiter.
With this step, you will loose out on Referral Bonus for Sure..
But, you will not be seen as someone who is favoring any candidature.
Avoid being on Interview Panel on those Interviews, it is good for continuing relationship in FriendZone or exColleagueZone.

Hiring is not done anymore with Old - basics on filling 10 online forms with 1 Employer Portal, I wonder those resumes which gets updated there are Auto - deleted !

Best shot on getting interview is via Recruiters, do not know what the Magic Sauce is but it works !!
You get immediate responses and interview are scheduled in few days if not next Weeek !

Lots of Reading via Mobile Phone - i can feel my brain is overloaded..

There are times - when you keep on clicking and going from one article to other.. just going on and on.. consuming lots of information..

With so much information - your BRain becomes restless - it has to Act.. least thing it has to LIKE on FB or Tweet on twitter or share on WhatsApp.. that is the logical end of the information consumed by you :)

Some information are very personally linked to your life experiences - those go onto become your thought process for next few days, untill a new King of information takes over your Brain Thought Empire.. and this saga goes..

How do i prove this to myself.. ??

We are a Beach, i see beautiful Water- crystal clear Sky and Smooooth Sand..

and here is my pic..




On seeing Water - MY brain & heart - linked it to Drought News from India, Railways bogies filled with water supplied to Latur, etc - I wished this water here in the Majestic Lakes could have been used there in INDIA, then you realize - Greeed is the reason why rules were not followed, dams were not built, sugar cane was allowed to cultivated - all that.. here.. rules were followed.. no fishing in the lakes.. no buildings on the lakes.. may be there are more n more.. reasons.. thank goodness i do not know.. all reasons.. but.. yeah thats how A beach moment ended up !

Now Sand Moment - I asked K and R to start digging from each sides to create Sand Tunnel as we did in child hood always over Beach.. here Namma Metro - Bangalore metro rail news kicked in.. i started seeing this sand tunnel as - East West corridors Metro Map.. and i started from North.. then when the effort started with Bare Hands... started feeling the amount of work Metro Team had to do to dig in 4 kms tunnel in span of 8 years.. it took us 30 mins in Sand to dig 20 inches :)

and then.. the Black Cap [ V Constructions , written with GULBARGA on it ] that cap feels so good, planning to end that thought into whatsapp share with Jiju who owns V constructions.. he will be happy to see free chicago marketing for this company..

Every day has to end with few silly regrets, 
on this day..
#1. Oh this was sunny day - we could have bough Beach towels, Beach Umbrella, Cooler , Football, VooleeyBall, Bose wireless speaker.. etc..
#2. Parking is such a mess   - we shoud tajke metra next time and add uber to it to reach final leg of the destination

After writing this blog, believe it or not - i feel so light at heart.. that i concluded all these thoughts here.. so BLOG is also the logical conclusion of thoughts..

TYpe it save it.. move on......... next day...
